Retreat to Melacca the historical city (by Muhammad Rashidi Zakiri)
After over a month of planning, finally my mother and my aunt found a suitable date for all of us to go for this trip. I was on a semester break and my cousins 'Bang Chik' and 'Ainina' also on school break at that day. So we decided to take that chance to spend some quality time together before we go back to our busy and hectic life. The date is 3rd December 2010, we drove from my house at Bangi around 6.00 pm. The journey take around 1 hour 35 minutes for about 125 kilometer and of course the only one that 'alive' (not sleeping) along the journey is me the driver and my father. Maybe because the car is very comfortable. We arrived around 8.00 pm and as soon as possible we go to the hotel that we have book, 'Hotel Seri Costa'. Rest comes first as we had a lot of things planned for this trip.
After having a good night sleep we go to our first Malacca's attraction, the Taming Sari tower. There we took the ride to look at the view of Malacca city from the height of 80 meters We went there early because the place full of tourists even before 11.00 am. We walked there because the distance is not too far from our hotel. At first we felt very nervous to take the ride because the look from below the tower is very scary, but when we're at the highest point of the tower that feeling is gone. We were hypnotized by the beautiful view of Malacca city from the sky. From there we can see all the tall buildings in Malacca.
After having the best view of Malacca city we decided to just randomly walk around the city. The first place that catches our attention is the Maritime museum for all the historic ships. But then, we decided not to go in because we do not have much time to get in there and there's a lot of places we want to go. So we decided to just take pictures outside the museum. Then, we continued our journey to 'Muzium Seni Bina'. There we found a lot of historical items displayed inside and outside the museum like the train and airplane replica.
Then we went to the A' Famosa the Portuguese fort in Malacca. After taking lots of pictures at the building we went to the Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall for some shopping. That is my sister's favourite place in Malacca. There we shop till we drop, especially my sister and my mom. When my sisters too tired to walk we decide to go the last attraction that we can go that night, The Eye of Malacca. There we take boat ride cruising along Malacca River at night. Surprisingly the night view is more beautiful than in the morning. Along the river bank there a lot of colorful neon light decorating the night view of Malacca River.
Even though we had a joyful trip we need to go back to the reality. Home is always the place to be in the world. After all the adventures we had for one day in Malacca we decide to go back early on the next morning. So to anyone who want to went for a holiday and at the same time appreciating our heritage and history you can go to Malacca the heritage city.
